The last week of Term 3 was such a whirlwind that I didn’t even get time to write the newsletter! Now that I’ve caught my breath, I thought I’d jump in with a quick update, even if it means popping into your holidays for a moment, for which I apologise!
So what kept us so busy? Well, we packed in two whole-school excursions, a whole-school assembly, and the big Faction Carnival… all in the same week. No wonder we were all ready for a rest!
The SciTech trips were huge. Every section of the school went, which meant lots of planning; buses, trains, special equipment, back-up plans—you name it, the team at Malibu covered it off. But the effort was worth it. Some students loved diving into the science activities, while for others the real win was just heading into the city and trying something new and being somewhere different and perhaps unfamiliar. Lots of little “wow” moments all around for the staff in attendance.
The assembly was another highlight! We had three class items, almost 50 certificates to hand out, and of course the whole school coming together. Each time, the students get a bit better at joining in and enjoying the atmosphere. If you’ve never made it to an assembly, try to come along next term, you’ll leave with a smile on your face!
And then, the Faction Carnival! What a way to end the term. We were lucky with the weather, not too hot, and the high jump and tug-of-war had everyone cheering. We were joined by the Health and Sports students from Safety Bay Senior High School, and they were fantastic helpers. It was great to see everyone giving it their best and having fun.
This is what makes Malibu special - making sure everyone can be part of the action and celebrate together. Next term will be just as full, with Market Day, Navy Day and Colour Run, graduations and assemblies all on the calendar. Plus, we’ll be planning ahead for 2026 classes and staffing, so there’s plenty to do.
For now, enjoy the break, and we’ll see you back at school on Tuesday 14 October. Don’t forget, Monday 13 October is a Staff Development Day, so students get one extra day at home while we finish our review preparations.
Have a safe and happy holiday,
Seth
Junior 5
J5 has had a productive and engaging term so far. As part of our enterprise project, students worked collaboratively to design and build a scarecrow, demonstrating creativity and teamwork.
In Science, the visit from the Cuddly Animal Farm was a highlight, providing students with a hands-on learning experience as they explored animal features and needs. Thank you, Lisa Thomas, for organising this incursion.
In the classroom, students have been applying themselves diligently in English and Mathematics, showing great persistence and progress. Preparations for Sports Day are well underway, with students practising enthusiastically to develop their skills.
We would like to extend our thanks to the fathers and father figures who joined us for Father’s Day activities, and to the P&C for organising and running the Father’s Day stall. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Senior 1
What a fantastic year it’s been for S1 so far!
We’ve had some amazing experiences out in the community, visiting places like The House of Honey, making a splash at Kwinana Adventure Park, exploring Amaze, and getting up close with snakes and lizards at the Armadale Reptile and Wildlife Centre.
At the beginning of Term 2 we purchased seeds and seedlings and planted them in our garden beds outside our classroom and have tended to them each week, watching them grow and bloom.
And the adventures aren’t over yet! We’re still looking forward to senior camp and a few more exciting activities before the school year wraps up and many of us graduate in Term 4.
This term, we successfully completed our ASDAN portfolios in Week 8—well done to everyone! We're now putting the finishing touches on our Preliminary folders in Maths, English, and Enterprise. At the same time, we’re busy getting our Business Enterprise products ready to sell on Market Day.
As we wind down the term, we're enjoying time together, making fun memories, and celebrating all we've achieved.
From all of us in S1, we wish you a happy, safe, and restful two-week holiday break!

STEM
This term in DigiTech has been an absolute blast, filled with incredible learning experiences!
Our J2 students have enthusiastically explored and learned various techniques for coding digital technology robots, particularly enjoying their interactive experience with Bee-bots. Their inquisitive nature as they learn through play has been wonderful to observe.
All junior students have continued to advance their coding abilities by exploring more advanced block coding with Scratch Jr. We look forward to coding and creating amazing animations in each class. Additionally, some students have been enjoying using their imaginations to create wonderful structures with magnetic blocks.
Our middle school students have been diving into arcade coding using Makecode Arcade by Microsoft, completing bi-weekly coding quests. They earn a badge and a certificate of completion at the end, and the best part is seeing them love playing the games they've created on their iPads.
Finally, we launched a Lego club this term, and our students have truly showcased exceptional creative skills. They are diligently following instructions, effectively collaborating, and working together to build amazing creations.

Term 4 - NDIS Therapy in School
The last day for scheduled external NDIS therapy sessions on the school site will be Friday, 14 November.
We are expecting updated forms and processes from both the NDIS and the Department of Education. Due to this, we will not confirm 2026 therapy sessions until the new year. In the past, early planning has sometimes required revision when new requirements were introduced, causing unnecessary frustration. By waiting for the revised guidelines, we can be confident that our arrangements will be clear and consistent for everyone.
In Term 4, we are also being extra careful with session scheduling. We have noticed that, at times, more than one therapist has been scheduled to attend for the same student without all parties being aware of this arrangement. Understandably, this can create challenges for the school to manage safely and appropriately. To support families and providers, we have introduced additional checks to ensure the right people are attending at the right time.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work together to ensure therapy sessions remain safe, well-coordinated, and supportive for students.
Little Stars Playgroup Plus
Little Stars Playgroup Plus
Hey there, parents! Do you have little ones between the ages of 0 and 5? If you're looking for a fun and engaging playgroup, we’d be thrilled to have you join us in the Kindy room at Malibu School! We meet every Wednesday during the school term from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. It’s a wonderful way to help your child build social skills while connecting with other families in the community. Check out the fun we had this week to see if our playgroup feels like the right fit for you and your little one!
This week was absolutely packed with fun, creativity, and lots of laughter! We kicked things off with a truly quacking good time in our craft corner. The kids had a blast getting messy while making their very own Handprint Duck! We traced around their hands and glued on paper to create the cutest little ducks. Then, we splashed into crafting a Duck in a Pond, using paper, chalk, and glue to bring a beautiful pond scene to life.
The sensory play zone was a huge hit! The kids had a fantastic time playing with shredded paper, discovering plastic farm animals hidden inside. They also enjoyed squishing, rolling, and shaping playdough with farm animal cutters, rolling pins, and even playdough hammers. The giggles just kept coming as they created their own little farmyard masterpieces!
For some energetic fun, our little ones bounced to their heart's content on the mini trampoline, hopped around with adorable farm animal toys, and explored the kitchen toys, pretending to be chefs and bakers. It was a whirlwind of excitement and imagination!
And of course, no playgroup would be complete without dancing! Everyone joined in for a lively dance party, with bubbles floating all around. The kids twirled and spun with colourful pom poms, filling the room with joy and laughter. What a fantastic morning full of fun, learning, and unforgettable memories!
